Waggling a sandal over tadpoles skimming the shaded shallows She puts her hands on her hips, Resists the urge to lick her lips, I wish she dips her feet in the cool water, feel the heat deplete without bother
(I loved the the sounds of your words and the images they conveyed. I used all of your words, this poem is owed to you, it’s yours completely, I just added my desire for relief, for her to dip her hot feet.)
There is a lot going on here. I feel like I jumped into the middle of a book. What is their relationship? What is the deal with the bridge joke? What is the significance of her name being carved?
What I clearly got was that it’s Bridget’s own bridge so she should be able to cross despite the others. But she doesn’t. I’m inferring that it’s because she has some unresolved attraction/loyalty to Jennifer. But it’s not entirely apparent.
