They Found Us

Undisturbed for eons, rediscovered.

A still planet orbits a dying sun. A hazy atmosphere surrounds the dead orb, and three small transports approach it. Advanced life forms pilot them with precision. Upon re-entry and landing, they exit, greeted by an expanse of structures, exoskeletons of what once was.

Enormous buildings reach for the smoky skyline. The extra terrestrials stare at the necropolis, full of awe.

After cutting their way into one of the towering structures, they come face to face with rows upon rows of ancient technology. Small squares, connected to bulky machines.

One of these squares dimly flickers in the back of the room.
The life forms walk towards it, examining it closely. After closer inspection, they realize they’ve found an archive of ancient literature, from beings thought to be long dead…

Extinct.

They eye each other, amazed, and one of them speaks in their native language:

“This planet may not be as dead as we thought. It lives on… through these ancient words.”
