Old Friends on the Sidewalks of New York

Seth Goldstein and Solomon Goodrich, who grew up in New York on the East End, were talking together at a cafe on Broadway about their old times in New York City. They decided to get up and walk down to the old neighborhood, maybe play a little stick ball for old times’ sake.

On the way, Seth was closer to the buildings, while Sol was closer to the street; this is why, when a truck suddenly veered off the road, it hit Sol and knocked him down, while Seth was perfectly unharmed. On reflection, it seemed that Solomon should have kept his eyes on the road instead.

Which all goes to prove that when you make a sudden decision, it’s better to be Seth than Solly.
