I want to welcome you all to our annual talent show and contest. This is the 59th year of the series, and it is sure to be among the greatest. Personally I’m excited to see so many local kids participating—and not all of these people are doing the kind of thing they’re known for! Three members of the Spartans, the local basketball team, are here with a magic show, for instance.
This seems like a suitable and exciting final event and a great way to finish off the series. Every year the group finale has been getting more and more elaborate, and this last time it’s going to be a real humdinger. Just wait till you see it!
Before we start the contest, I’ve prepared a slide show to go over the history of our contest. There are a lot of familiar names among the contestants, over the years.
Naturally, many of us are sad that this will be the last of our contests, but we’re a brave bunch. Whatever happens tomorrow, it was great to have known you all. It’s too bad we’ll never see Christmas 2012, but all good things—
