The word “inkroom” made me think a newsroom (professional or collegiate), but then you revealed it’s a personal dwelling. That threw me a little because the characters are analyzing the scene like third-party observers (detectives), but some of the dialogue seems to suggest they have a personal connection to the place. I found that hard to reconcile. On the whole, though, I liked the story. I’m interested to see if a sequel will give us any answers to this mystery.
