I hear Marv from Sin City in my head when I read this. Just has that gritty, slightly superhuman in a graphic novel kind of feel to it.

I got more of a “dumb brute not suited for much else” feel from it. I had assumed that he really is illiterate (or at least something close to it), but just a touch egotistical, maybe even narcissistic, hence the smudge excuse. Maybe it’s because he seems to really have a hatred for the few characters representing success in proper society.

He’s a complex character with just the barest essentials showing in this format. I like it.

Great. I love barfly stories and this reads like a barfly story. A good and unusual one, but a barfly story nonetheless. Love the voice and the noir feel.

I have nothing clever to say. I just enjoyed it a lot! Very cinematic.
