A lot of exposition but still reads fairly well. Full paragraph breaks might have helped to set apart some thought processes or description sets.

‘Stronger’ – that struck me – ‘blasted her awake’ – that made an impact. ‘Kat’, though ‘fun’, isn’t a ‘unique’ nickname – find the right word, it’s there, somewhere. You’ll find it. It’ll make you stronger. When you see it – it’ll blast you awake! :)
