Very depressing. Felt very metaphorical and therefore open to interpretation, which is quite alright for a poem. The mood definitely comes across though, and it isn’t cheerful.

it’s mostly because i live in singapore and during june we tend to get a lot of haze from indonesia from their slash-and-burn methods of clearing forestry. but this year it was particularly bad, and there was pretty much a frenzy throughout singapore to buy masks, such that people artificially raised the prices and many chose to stay indoors…
I wrote the poem when the haze reached 371 and 400 in the next hour while I was in school. It was actually part of the ‘april may june’ poem, being the ‘june’ part but in the end i felt they worked better separately.
