Very tragic and all too common a thought process. Feels like the narrator is on the verge of understanding something, the darkness before the dawn perhaps.
Or maybe I’m just a hopeless optimist. There is meaning, though it is elusive and rarely as universal as we’d like it to be.
Ah, what I would give for such an optimistic thought process. Thank you for the comment! It makes my day every time some one comments! I am on the verge of understanding something; I just have to make it to that final conclusion.
I found this piece rather striking and agree with the first comment that there is something peculiarly optimistic about it. Perhaps because it feels very cathartic, as though pain is about to yield to something more positive; a letting go?
I agree. Losing yourself is not always a bad thing, because it often brings new perspective. We get very wrapped up in ourselves and that’s when things don’t make sense. We need the big picture.
