It’s nice seeing this side of you. I have to ask: Why isn’t the host sister named? It’s an odd juxtaposition, she’s like a travel guide helping the visitor set down milestones. Any reason?
Great job with establishing age through word choice, I see this person as a junior/senior in high school. I mention this because some volunteers, such as Peace Corp, have host families too as do college students.
It may have been unintentional, but one I appreciate: this visitor may be a boy, it would be a far stretch to assume the host family is that open. When a student is placed, the entire family is brother, sister, mother, father etc. So it works for me, a nice gender guessing game.
Thanks for entering. Can you put :Redux after your title? Thanks.
It’s not a redux… it’s the idiom challenge.. I’m confused. Did I mess up? I was writing on the fly and didn’t come up with a name. :) I knew you’d appreciate the gender neutrality. :)
