Yup, leprosy does have a way of isolating a person – or it did, at one time. Of course you might be referring to a type of social leprosy which in that case, has no known cure. (Hey, where did everyone go?)
The sadness and loneliness comes across, whatever the cause. Some grammar/typo clean-up, like the comma splice in the second sentence and the missing brown thing of the doctor’s. Tone still works well in this one.
I would say the heart rate monitor beeps, rather than beats. The doctor seems reluctant to treat this one, taking on a hands-off approach. He could be more “human” had he worn a suit they use in quarantines.. but I also see the tie in to the social leprosy. :)
