Impossible Humans

Of course, that wasn’t true. She would stay on that ship with him even if they ended up floating around space for the rest of their lives. There was nowhere else to go, no else that would even look at her twice let alone help her.

That’s how it was and that’s how it would always be. Nobody wanted dealings with each other but that was especially so for a human. And the fact that she had even found another human was so much of a miracle, she didn’t dare leave him. Even if he was an impossible person to be with.

“Cap, let’s do something. Teach me how to fly this rust-bucket. Or how to shoot that fancy Fliondeso 300 you have strapped to your hip.”

Without looking up from the box he was rummaging around in he simply said, “I don’t even want to know why you know the name of my piece.”

She rolled her eyes and sat cross-legged on the cold metal floor. “I’m not four.”

“Nobody should know as much as you do about weaponry.” He shook his head.

If you only knew why. She thought, chuckling to herself mirthlessly.
