So he’s responsible but not responsible? Reminds me of Oppenheimer or Einstein.

Now that you mention it, this whole thing does have an Oppenheimer feel to it.

Oh yeah, that’s true. Didn’t think of that.

Sounds to me like he’s protesting too hard that he was just a pawn in the game; for the record, Oppenheimer actually had far more integrity than that.

I like the story though – will have to work backwards at some point and see what happened at the beginning.

To be fair, he’s working on it.
