If you are saying “gates of Heaven” I think your verb should agree with ‘gates’ rather than ‘Heaven’, ie, plural form. Alternately you could say, “the gate of Heaven,” or, “Heaven’s gate”.
Yes, it is very, er – Scriptural (with a capital S).
On the vexed “The gates of Heaven is often over-looked” issue, you could even have a concrete “The Gates of Heaven is often over-looked”, making it sound more like some sort of identifiable landmark and/or a popular tourist destination which I suppose it might be – in a terminal kind of way.
