Effectively eerie, it captures the weirdness of biological development (I’m a biologist myself and it weirds the hell out of me) without even needing to take into account the artificial element suggested by the title. In fact, it’s only the breath of electricity that gives it away.
I find The brain creates itself in folds, thousands of concise notes to self to form the origami of their knowing the least satisfactory line, for some reason – not sure why, perhaps the alliteration of itself/self or notes/knowing. I might have hyphenated notes-to-self, and/or just contracted that line so it flows a bit more smoothly. And you’re missing a space between electricity.[sp]The kiss. But of course, this is nit-picking and doesn’t really detract from an excellent piece of writing.
Definitely spookie with the title but feels like it could be just as much the musing of a deity or a biologist on natural creation in utero. Nicely done.
It’s.. creation! Life and form and exhilaration. The only eerie thing is to think of this happening without a maker with a plan to keep the chaos of life at bay. :) Okay, so body parts moving into place on their own like in a car commercial is odd, but I wouldn’t say creepy.
