“Because I don’t think that I want to be her boyfriend any more. Besides, you have all of my attention at the moment.”

“How is it that you are so indifferent about it all? I mean, she is your girlfriend, after all.” Even as I said it, I knew that I didn’t mean it. I didn’t want him to like her. I was hoping that he didn’t.

“Things haven’t been great between us lately. As you can see. I think that we’ve been slowly drifting apart for a while now. And I guess she finally couldn’t handle it any more. And so she ran off with that guy- your cousin I guess.”

I was feeling really sorry for him. “Wow. You must be hating Jason at the moment.”

“Not really,” Alex replied, “If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be standing here dancing with you right now.”
