…however, further to my previous comment, I feel that in terms of angst, this does goes right over the top and charging towards the enemy with all guns blazing. I appreciate the emotion of the situation, but feel that this could benefit from being taken down a notch or two on the intensity scale.
While I understand where you are coming from, I disagree. The drunk, depressed self left a note for her sober self—and if you think about it as two different people occupying the same body, perhaps it seems less exaggerated. Or still exaggerated, but sensibly so. The reason I approached it with less of an artful angle with the self-hating pity note is because the sober self needs to understand that there is something that is truly raw and calloused inside of her. She needs to know that there are layers inside of her that ripple to the surface—she needs to know to listen to all parts of her… even the parts that are over-the-top, full of angst, and intense to the max. So, yeah. That’s what I was trying to convey. Sorry if it didn’t come through!
