Definitely a mythical feel! You’ve strung the words together beautifully and although I don’t know the full story, I can feel the pain of their separation.
It does have a very mythic quality, although it could also be a very current thing described in mythic metaphor maybe. That sense and sometimes fear that parents are mortal and will not always be there is always something emotionally big to process. I liked the idea of a demon boy and how did he extract the promise from her?
This sounds very much like something from the old British folk tradition – as though it could have been unearthed from the depths of Cecil Sharp house. It has that timeless quality about it. Lovely.
