Black Widow
Death lurks behind a curtain of white lace
While shadows dance behind fluttering lashes
Her cheeks may be rosy
Flushed with anticipation
But is it for
A tepid honeymoon full of sweat and grunts
And endless staring into each others eyes
Or that moment of recognition
Before he falls headfirst
Into shark infested waters
Heart weighed by a chest full of lead
Her steps are slow
Measured with the same deliberate care
As the salt water currently tracing her delicate cheek
The only indication of her deadly promise lies in her carefully covered eyes
And a trail of bruised and broken petals hidden beneath her darkening train
He waits in breathless anticipation
For a future that will never come
His palms wet with a fear of rejection so misguided as to be laughable
For he knows his bride no better than the first moment they were introduced
His love trapped in a web of lies
That pull him ever closer to that final moment
When his heart is lost to a frenzied ripping of pointed teeth
Leaving him with only a watery hole
