Comedy twists the deeply painful
Into that which can be spoken of with relative ease

Though often used to replace critical contemplation
And mistakenly thought of as an acceptable substitute for a deeper understanding
Of soul deep scars and persistent aches and tearing pains
This is only the first step towards recovering
That which is on the verge of being lost
Forever

Those who fool themselves into believing
Their journey has ended
With their half-hearted acknowledgement of the malignant cancer
Currently polluting their intestines
Have decided
Consciously or not
That their lives will be forever ruled
By their twisted deadly fears
