Depth Charge
The first explosion rocked Habitat Four. Which was disconcerting in itself, since the Habitats were supposedly indestructible. Frank raced to South Pod to see what the problem was. He ran against a tide of people surging northward. He reached South Pod as the second blast hit, the one that destroyed the pathway. And he found himself alone, on the ground as the emergency seals shut hard behind him. The red emergency lights barely illuminated anything, and Frank felt as though he wasn’t alone. There would be the glass windows further on, and dragging himself up, he began walking, noticing a gash on his leg. As he walked, he heard a sound behind him. He turned, seeing nothing but the blood-red lights and the gentle creaking of the underwater pod. He reached the windows and began to look outward. He was jerked around and flung across the room, hitting the wall hard. Before he lost consciousness, he saw one of Them. With sharp talons, it clicked and slithered toward him, and he knew the Habitat was lost.
