This is very introspective and nicely written. A vivid depiction of what it feels like to be trammeled by one’s own past; something we’ve all felt on occasion.
I feel like this is fairly confusing in only one way: the image is of this blue-eyed boy being in front of you or far away. Placing him to the left without first saying that that is where he is kind of threw me off balance.
Other than that the imagery is gorgeous. Personifying your past as the antithesis of this other person is a wonderful concept, and the whole description is executed brilliantly.
