Breaking Free

“I’m Keith,” said the vamp as he lead me down the hall.

“What?” I asked, looking at him confused.

“You’ve been wondering my name? It’s Keith.”

“Why are you helping me?” Suddenly all these questions came to me and I wanted answers.

“I never really wanted this. I was a goth guy trying to get the popular girl. I found out she was into vamps so I started playing Vampire: The Masquerade. I didn’t know the local nest was real until it was too late. The girl I was in love with was my first kill. That was 20 years ago. Ally, I want to break from the nest but I needed a way to fake my death,” he explained.

“And that’s where I come in,” I realized. “Keith, I’ll go along with the plan, but I can’t vouch for my Dad and brother.” We got to the quarantine and he open the door. A thin, pasty-looking woman was dismantling my bow. Keith flashed his fangs and commanded, “Stop. Do not strip that weapon. The old man now wants it for a trophy. Ally Durbin’s bow is quite the prize.”
