It does have a nice flow and pace to it, like the read goes right along with this very fluid walk out, down the hall, and onto the ship. I loved the line about, “…kept himself fit out of necessity.” I know so many people like that…myself largely included.

No, that’s literally what I meant. I keep myself fit because Uncle Sam tests me every 6 months to make sure I’m “deployable”. No need to amend.
