For me, if a story conveys a strong tone and it has prequels/sequels, and I’m drawn to reading them, then the author has done their job. I was a little disappointed to see none.
If there’s an element of unique speech I usually don’t consider writing a sequel/prequel, I’m afraid of not being able to carry that element through. The personality of the piece may be too unique and that I wouldn’t want to disrespect.
Great dialogue, as others have noted, and a marvelous, grimy Dickensian feel to it. The mention of the sea breeze is a nice atmospheric detail that enriches the setting in an unobtrusive way.
