Love the bluntness of Beretta’s end-of-his-tether response. Clearly, this drink-addled, rain-stained, hard-boiled PI is in no mood for fucking around. I guess if Lambone has realised what a tough old egg he was dealing with, he’d never have chanced it with the old Jellicoe routine. Should make for an interesting reunion when they end up in the Topaz together.

Nick is not the nicest PI in the world, but that really does fit with the anti-hero mold established thus far. And time is passing quickly! Still have to get the two branches back together somehow.
