Interesting, that they’re still granting Reckall an illusion of autonomy in this whole operation, although the facade is beginning to slip. How long, I wonder, before he realizes that he is nothing more than a component for these technicians to test, adapt and discard as they see fit. Or perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself and that’s not the story at all – time will tell. A good read, in any case.

I like the very clear sense of him being appraised and handled like a lab rat here, and he’s just sort of in the situation but also not so much there.
