Weird – this is what comes of eating cheese whilst reading Kafka before bedtime.

I like the little details that come through – the chains, the satin uniform, etc.

I like the imagery of something being so hard that it feels like it’s a thousand feet of hardness.

I like also that he describes the room he’s in, as if he’s trying to work through each part of it in turn looking for an edge. I think that element could have been played up.
