Master of Equus: Prologue cont.(3)
He had a way with the horses that was unlike any of the others. He seemed to communicate in a way with them that was suspiciously magical. This observance encouraged frequent visits to the stables. There was something in the way he spoke to them. He would talk to them, low syllables she did not understand. Yet, the horses seemed to know what was to be done almost before they were told. It seemed he only spoke to them when no one else was around too. This sparked an insatiable curiosity. She must know more.
After all, if she was ever to prove she deserved to be Master of Equus of the Royal Herd, she needed to know all she could and then some. Never in the history of the Kingdom had a female EVER been a trainer, let alone, Master of Equus, or even an apprentice for that matter. It just was not done. But Christine was determined to change that. Her mother did not share her passion for horses, but her father did and that may play to her advantage. Besides, He was the King. He could appoint anyone, right?
