The phone rang, he answered. “You tell ‘em I’m coming, and hell’s coming with me. You hear that? Hell’s coming with me!” he shouted into the receiver and hung up.

A knock at the door disturbed his respite.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Batman.”

The knock repeated.

“Here’s Johnny!” Came through the door.

He opened the door and his friend came in with a box in his hands.

“I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

They both nodded in agreement. He strolled across the apartment to the couch in front of the TV.

“It’s a hell of a thing killing a man. You take away everything he’s got and all he ever going to have.”

His friend sat on the couch next to him. “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.” They both nodded again.

“What we do in life echoes in eternity.”
