Chapter 2 Disapproval part 2

Her twin brother laughed so hard he nearly fell out of his chair. He made fun of her only to be scolded quite reproachfully to a snickering silence, by the Queen. Her father quickly reprimanded her and unsuccessfully attempting to hide a smirk behind his blonde beard, gave her a discreet wink and sent her to her room without dinner.

Later that evening, the King instructed Gertie to take her some bread, cheese, a turkey leg and a flagon of goats milk. His majesty shared his daughters passion for the horses. He saw so much of himself in her at that age. It made him smile more oft than naught, but he also knew how important it was for her to become a Lady of Court. She would be twelve on her next natal day and it was time she began conducting herself a bit more lady-like.
