"You killed my father."

“He’s dead!” Inez panted as she banged on the trailer door. “Mama Freeman…” She just wept, covered in dirt and naked, banging on that door. “Mama, he’s dead…”

The mango Louisiana sun sunk into the horizon, as Sarah stared at the voodoo queen. “You killed my father.”
Serafine’s eyes did not meet Sarah’s gaze. It was filled with fire and Sera’s eyes were filled with… question.
She wondered how Sarah knew, but then again she was an Andre and that was some powerful blood. It was full of dedication, passion, intent and intensity.
“How do you know?” asked the queen.
“I can just… feel it.” Her eyes burned into Papillon’s sunken cheeks, “Why? Why did you kill him?”
Serafine took a moment to consider telling Sarah.
Almost to herself, Serafine mumbled, “It’s almost my time anyway…”
Madame Papillon reached to her glass eyeball as she spoke, “Your mama owed me. And I needed all the souls I could get.”
She plucked it out and let it roll around her wrinkled slivers of walnuts for hands.
