Feels very much like a new chapter, and the recursive title underlines that. The final exchange is great, indirectly characterising Randall Stone most effectively.
My last 23 stories have all been Noir stories. I’ll be taking a break from this until at least after the closing ceremonies for the Ficlympics. I will, however, be doing some behind the scenes work in connection with Pablo Vilas’ WordPress site. This will involve developing the necessary technology to render a graphical representation of a Ficly story line connected using prequels/sequels. There’s an incomplete (and incorrect) proof of concept at http://app.box.com/shared/yg7eom74zq named ‘noir.svg’ which can be displayed using any web browser. (It’s on the bottom of the 3rd page, past all of the Ficly monthly digests.)
I like the “not taking a no for an answer” style there in the final statement. Fun installment and does lend itself quite well to lots of possibilities.
23 stories – good god, has it really been that many? I thought I hadn’t heard much else from you for a while. A well earned rest is definitely prescribed, I think.
Great work on the svg thingy (revealing the depth of my technical understanding); this should work a treat with Pablo’s WordPress. With his gift for concise summary, and your programming expertise, I’m sure the guide will prove indispensible to any perplexed reader ploughing his way through the existing story – not to mention the hundreds of installments that are, no doubt, to come.
