What a strange planet this is. Billions of creatures after millions of years of growth. Is this what we could have been?
I try to think back to my creation; to our creation, I should say, but it dances just outside of my grasp. I know it’s there, but I can’t find it. There’s no point, I guess. I’m the only one left who knows and I wouldn’t be able to tell anyone here anyway.
I never had a father. None of us did, but that was normal. We all grew up together. We all experienced everything for the first time, as one. My first kiss was our first kiss. My first dance, our first dance. My first child…well, one can dream.
It sort of seems pointless now, all of it. We knew we had an expiration date. We pretended we didn’t, but we did. And we ignored it.
And now, it’s here. It’s me. I’m sitting on a fucking beach on a planet never I knew existed, and I’m the end. For the first time in my life, it isn’t ours, it’s mine.
We just didn’t have the right parts, I guess. We should have known.
