Well-written. As a reader I keenly felt wistfulness and regret. I always enjoy the way you use the senses in your writing to emphasize or illustrate a point.

Has a resigned, final testament feeling about it. The resentment over the subject’s inability, or refusal to appreciate the writer’s oblique message is telling of the latter’s difficulty with and /or distrust of direct communication. Most writers can probably relate to that.
