Not quite sure what is going on here, but it’s an engaging little scene nonetheless.

It’s a mashup of the Dresden Files works by Jim Butcher along with the classic ghost-comedy Beetlejuice. I was listening to the Beetlejuice soundtrack while Fool Moon was on my desk, and bang! Mashup born.

Cute. So the mage has two apprentices, one named Bob and one named Molly? I liked the idea of the assumption of it being trashy and Bob just going with that.

In the Dresden universe, Molly is his only apprentice. Bob is a disembodied spirit who lives in a skull and gives Harry advice. He’s also been established as a lech who likes to read bodice ripper romances.

I see… I suppose, if this story has a weakness, it is that is relies so heavily on its fictional context which can make it a bit exclusive for the reader.

I didn’t have the context, but didn’t find that to be much of a block to the tale. Made me smile.
