Life of a Space Gypsy Part IV

Roxan’s mind was mostly still asleep, and yet she was moving. The only comparison she could make to the experience was lucid dreaming. A dim part of her consciousness was aware of her surroundings. That was the part that told her to eat, to drink, to breathe, and now it was driving her through her messy sleeping quarters towards her toilet.

Roxan didn’t think about all of the moves she made as she made them. That tiny conscious compelled her to open the door, remove her underwear, strap herself into the seat, all without her input. Suddenly she was peeing, and reality snapped back into place.

Roxan felt compelled to speak. At first she could only croak a few odd noises as her throat vibrated to life. Then she was speaking. “Holy Christ,” she grumbled in a cracking voice. She looked down. For a moment, she had forgotten where she was. “Oh right,” she said. “I had to pee.” Roxan unstrapped herself from the seat and drew herself back up. “Guess I’ll eat now,” she said to no one.
