Benefits of Train Writing
I am in the midst of writing the second draft of my first novel. The rewriting process is tedious, requiring extended periods of uninterrupted time and a great deal of focus. The day-to-day challenge that I face is making time to accomplish this goal. I work full time and participate in community events and activities in my city. Writing would consistently fall by the wayside if not for my ongoing determination to see my novel published someday.
Riding on a train, in a calm environment, would provide much needed time in a uniquely creative environment. The land around me becomes a playground for my imagination. Since ideas come and go without care for the clock-driven world we live in, I especially appreciate the opportunity to write immediately upon waking, throughout the day, during meals, late into the night, and in those frequent “eureka!” moments when I wake up after going to bed. Dreams play a crucial role in the fabrication of my stories, so restful sleep becomes invaluable.
