On Threeworld, a mining asteroid far from Earth, rebels plot against their oppressive theocratic overlords the Synod, who respond by sending an envoy secretly infected with a plague virus that wipes out the colony.

Back on Earth, Reckall, a soldier of the United States of Near Earth (USNE), is cybernetically enhanced as part of a secret project headed by the mysterious Schachturke, while Shwartz, ancient cyborg and founder of the Principality of New York (PONY), fakes his own kidnapping and leaves Terra to bargain for immortality with the Synod on their homeworld.

Troops of the Synod’s military wing, the Fist of God (FOG), arrive on Threeworld to clean up after the plague strike, only to discover a lone survivor who seems to be more than human. Soon more rebels arrive, followed by Reckall and USNE troops. In the ensuing struggle, both USNE and FOG ships are destroyed at the behest of the Synod against whom, stranded and desperate, the remaining rebels and USNE soldiers forge an uneasy alliance…
