Ascension II: The Loop
“Hey stranger, you look tired.” The parlor streetwalker blew into the wind as Pitcher reached the Loop entrance. He didn’t want to answer, nor look directly at her. “What’d I say baby? Somethin’ you don’t like.” He knew better than reveal even his voice to the locals, but the necklace she wore triggered a memory.
“Where did you get that necklace?” He said as he passed, he imperceptibly slowed his gait and paused at the top of the stairs, Bates was nearby, and Pitcher didn’t want to let on.
“This thing? Do you know it?”
A pause. Damn she answered questions with questions. Now Pitcher did stop and checked his satchel to look busy, but not in conversation. “Yeah, that necklace.”
“It’s something I picked up at Hooligan’s at Center Station, you like it?” Pitcher was already gone when she finished blinking.
Down the stairs, a wave of the Credit Ring and he was waiting on the platform. The Loop did just that, a circuit through JS. As of now, his stop was Center Station. Hooligan’s – when it rains it pours.
