Amy was turning pages furiously, trying to soak up information like a sponge before the librarian discovered her still reading after closing hours. The trip was in just two days, and she feared that the rumors she had heard may be true. Illness, death, strangely acting animals. She feared most for the family dog. But what would her younger sister think? Her parents would likely shrug it off, but if the fear was great enough, perhaps her sisters may be able to convince them out of the trip…

She shut the book, the sound of a shutting door nearly caused Amy to jump out of her seat. She scrambled to place the books back in their place, turning to face the librarian. With a nervous laugh, she explained that she’d rather put the books away properly. The librarian was oddly pleased with this, and let the girl finish before closing the building.
