Payback

The Sun had set and it was hard enough to see my own feet, let alone keep searching for Kelly. Why would she run off like this?

As much as I hate to admit it, I was actually feeling a bit scared. I had been to the lake before, but never this far out, and never at this time of night. Everything was unfamiliar, and without any means of direction I was starting to disorient myself.

I froze when the sound of crackling leaves caught my ear, “Kelly? Is that you?” I turned to face the noise, there was nothing. I started to call for her again, but something caught my eye, disappearing behind a bush.

“Kelly, don’t mess around.” I said peeking around the bush. To my surprise, I was met with an angry raccoon that after seeing me, took off up a tree. I sighed, mumbling softly before turning again to keep searching.

“BOO!” yelled Kelly, appearing out of nowhere. I’ll bet I sounded like a little schoolgirl as I screamed at the sound of her voice.

“Jesus, Kelly! What were you thinking!?”

“Payback!” She replied.
