I love the detail of the already flattened grass. It gives a hint of foreshadowing that this place is frequented often. The reader wonders if it by her, or by others. I believe it is by her. The part when she thinks “i made it back” makes me think she is trying to do something against the ‘rules’ so to speak. I first thought this was about suicide, as in, the place was a coma and she was ready to fall asleep and die. But when I reread it thinking this is a real place, then the voice and her thought retort hint at something else. I wish I knew what. Awesome job, Isla.
