Nostalgia for a person, not a place. Nice take on the challenge! I didn’t think of it that way.
I love those four opening lines. Especially “I can still taste her lips, a sweet sheen of raspberry gloss that left a lingering aftertaste on my tongue”. You nail all the senses and transport the reader entirely into a very intimate place (which isn’t easy).
I like the overall tone. There isn’t the deep sadness of loss or the overwhelming happiness of great memories, just the bittersweet recognition that things can never be that way again. (The way I read it, anyway).
