Fathers Day Part IV
“You know I haven’t heard the new Green Day album. I also don’t know much about the world today. But I’ve seen this country as a result of a war, and I can tell you that the good that comes is hardly ever worth the bad. And about your mother, I loved her so much, but I was too set in my ways to stop her when she walked away. It’s a regret. You were the greatest thing that ever happened to me, and I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to show you that. I tried so hard to be everything that you deserved, and I’m sorry I fell short so many times. I don’t care what direction you go in with life, as long as you’re happy in the end. I’d be so happy to know that you made it through college, without a cigarette in your mouth. I’m honored you tattooed your body with a memorial, but don’t cover yourself with those things. Don’t forget I’m your father, and I’m not supposed to approve of your boyfriend. I haven’t been there for a long time, and I’m sorry, but I’m still your Dad, and I’m always going to be your Dad.”
