Everything

I lived for the nights we would drive around in my car with the windows rolled down and the music turned up and she’d let her hair loose and shake it around as she sang at the top of her lungs and smile.

Oh God I loved that smile.

And one night we went to the beach and we were splashing in the water and I said,
“What Do You Want Out Of Life” and she said,

“Everything.”

And we were sitting in the sand when she pulled a picture from her purse and said,
“This Is Me When I Was A Baby.”
And there she was, a toddler with yellow hair and bright green eyes, staring back at me with this look of wonder. And I said,

“What Did You Want To Be When You When You Were Little”
and she looked at me with those bright green eyes and said,

“Everything.”

And ever since then she’s been everything I wanted.
