Something about the ending suggests that there’s a bit more to this… and chances are it’s not particularly good for whoever decides to cross this kid’s path. Most peculiar that he calls his mother “Baby”… You never fail to catch me off guard, MJ.
hey you know when me and elsh were working on this she said shouldnt you make it more clear to the reader? I said, my readers are writers they dont want to be spoonfed.
Ok Oedipus Complex helps, but my questions are like, did the dopg get bu8ried in a “pet sematary” type situation, come back from the dead and prevent a murder by refilling the brake fluid in the boy friends car? Cuz that’s pretty awesome…where(btw) is the helpful zombie pet sematary? Cuz I got some chores need doin’ and my dog can’t even fetch in this incarnation…..
This reminded me of the children’s song “The Cat Came Back” mixed with the movie _"The Good Son" This is creepy-awesome…or should I say creewesome … yea I just made up a new word, and it’s in my windows dictionary now.
BTW, I disagree with most of the comments about the confusing part. The tag was unnecessary…the story wasn’t obscure or misleading, it just required a little thought on the part of the reader… seriously people, put down the TV remote and read some serious books… and I’m not talking about newsweek or that Dora the Explorer coloring book your 5 year old sister has laying on her nightstand. How about Plato’s Republic or Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s August 1914 , or even the graphic novel The Watchmen … I hate being spoonfed and treated like a retard by authors…anywho, I’m off my soapbox now
Yeah, I got the meaning behind calling his mom ‘baby’, though I’m still unsure of the brake fluid. The dog came back to life? It’s an omen? The sequel, which I read first, was clearer. Also, you’ve got either an extra set or a missing set of quotation marks at the end.
The set up=She had been engaged since, but the suitor died when his brakes failed. The turn around=and buried it in the same place he had buried or dumped suitor’s stuff before. The prestige= but what is this stuff on him?” The boy’s eyes narrowed. Brake fluid." So does this explain it to everyone, sorry i used confidence terminology but it is the vice i feel most akin to as a writer.
