The bus stops one last time, as the new driver announces such. He is tired, thoughtful and in dire need of that lager and couch. He is confused as he feels a hope alight in his body. He considers tomorrow and what he’ll do. He thinks to set his alarm early, to face the day under the gaze of the sun. The elder lady steps off the bus. Her bones ache, yet she has succumbed to a new youth in her mind. She reaches to touch her cheek, where the young child had lovingly caressed with concern in his eyes and adoration in his touch. She thinks of her late husband and her heart falls open like a flower in fresh earth. She watches the young man help the young woman step off the bus and she smiles with wisdom’s eye as her own
