I like this prequel very much. Great direction, and an interesting look at what happened to him to maybe make him that way. For some reason, I also liked the “his momma would look angrily at him and sign too fast” sentence.

I agree with Stovo that the signing too fast was a great touch. Nice job maintaining the same pace through the accident, which kept it kind of quiet despite the tragedy.

That was great – both in itself and as a lead-in for sequels. Totally didn’t expect the very last sentence.
