A New Friend
“Oh my gosh!” I squealed, spinning my chair around and bolting for the front door of the diner.
“Amber! Wait!” Thomas called, jumping off his chair to run after me.
I reached the bikes before Thomas reached me, however. I went right to a Honda Shadow. I moved my hand along the bike’s length, being careful not to touch it.
“Hey! Watch it!” The bike’s owner called, running towards me. “Don’t touch that!”
I looked up at him quickly, explaining, “Oh, I’d never harm it! I wouldn’t even touch it. I’m sorry… It’s just that motorcycles have always fascinated me… but my family has never had the money to buy one… The Shadow was a bike my dad used to own that he told me about… Since then I’ve been kinda partial to it…”
Both the bike’s owner and Thomas were looking at me like I was mad. I got mad and stomped my foot, demanding, “What?!”
Thomas bent over laughing, but the biker said, “Well Little Lady, have you ever been on one before?”
